The Subject

I love hummingbirds. Their beauty and energy inspire me, and I enjoy watching them buzz around my honeysuckle bush in the summer. I wanted this painting to reflect their dainty features and lovely colors.

The Process

I thought mixed media would be a fun challenge for this piece. I started with a watercolor wash to create a flowy background and gradually built the foreground up with acrylic. I added details to the flower and hummingbird once everything was dry.
