Collage of the Mind
Paper clippings, charcoal, and white charcoal on Strathmore toned tan paper, 9x12”
The Subject
This project was done as an assignment for my Drawing II class. Our final project was a twelve-part series centered around a single object or thought. I chose a dahlia to represent my love of flowers, gardening, and growth.
The Process
I drew the contoured profile of a face (not my face) with 4B and white charcoal pencils. I cut out the birds, flowers, and butterflies from my embarrassingly large collection of Birds & Blooms magazines and pasted them with rubber cement.
