Easy Peppermint Hot Chocolate Bombs
These chocolatey explosions of goodness will take your hot chocolate to a new level! It’s so fun to watch as the chocolate melts away when you pour hot water or milk overtop. These hot chocolate bombs are also surprisingly easy to make. If you don’t have any semi sphere baking mold, there are tons of options online like this one.
Start to finish: 30 minutes
Makes: 6 hot chocolate bombs
What you’ll need:
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
semi sphere silicone baking mold
3 small packets of hot chocolate mix
3 candy canes, crushed
What you’ll do:
Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave for about 1 minute thirty seconds, stirring after every thirty seconds. I always stir in the last lumps of chocolate by hand so it doesn’t burn.
Using your fingers, generously coat the edges of the silicone baking mold in chocolate, then freeze for 10 minutes. If you’re impatient, you can watch some comedy to make the time go faster. :)
Carefully pop the chocolate shells out of their molds and fill with half a hot chocolate mix, then add candy cane pieces.
Using the extra chocolate as glue, place the other half of the shell on top and smear the edges with chocolate. Be careful; the chocolate shells are brittle! Roll in crushed candy canes, then refrigerate for another 10 minutes.
When you’re ready, pour hot water, milk, or almond milk over them and watch the chocolate melt away!
